Wika Next X Edition Pickleball Paddle

Overview

Summary

The Wika Next X is aimed at players who want durable spin and a core that does not break down. Its W-S|GRIT surface combines carbon fibre with synthetic glass beads arranged in a diamond matrix. The brand says this gives spin above 2,400 RPM, which it describes as among the best on the market, though like all spin figures it should be treated as a manufacturer claim and will vary with your swing.

The more distinctive feature is the NEXT-CORE Solid Mold. It is a solid polypropylene honeycomb core with added silicone, and Wika says it completely eliminates core crush. Core crush is the gradual collapse of honeycomb cells, which makes a paddle feel dull and soft. By removing that problem, the Next X is designed to keep a stable, consistent response over the long term and not deform after months of use.

The paddle is built with a 16mm thickness for stability and a controlled feel on touch shots. That makes it an attractive way to get a durable honeycomb paddle from a Vietnamese brand without paying flagship money.

Strengths

• Long-lasting spin surface. Diamond matrix grit is designed to resist wear.
• No core crush. Solid-mould honeycomb with silicone aims to keep feel consistent.
• Stable 16mm build. Controlled response on touch shots.
• Moderate price. Mid-range value.
• Three colours. Blue, purple and red.

Weaknesses

• Honeycomb feel. Firmer than a full-foam paddle.
• Brand-reported claims. The 2,400 RPM figure is not independent.
• Regional brand. Fewer international reviews.

Who it is for

Players who want a durable honeycomb paddle that keeps its feel, beginners and intermediate players looking for a reliable all-rounder.

Care and buying tips

Clean the textured face with a damp cloth and avoid abrasive pads. Store the paddle in a cover away from heat.

On-court tips

A diamond-matrix surface and a crush-resistant core are designed for long use, so give the paddle time. Practise a mix of dinks and drives over several sessions to learn its feel, and keep the face clean with a damp cloth. If you prefer a livelier response, compare it with thinner paddles from the same brand before deciding.
