Selkirk Omni 1776 Pickleball Paddle

Overview

Summary

The OMNI is Selkirk’s answer to a question many players ask: can one paddle do everything? The brand’s answer is a paddle that reacts, adapts and wins. The 1776 Capsule is a limited edition that wraps this design in patriotic artwork, but the technology underneath is the same as the regular OMNI.

The centrepiece is ReactCore, a dynamic core made from three parts: a floating PureFoam centre, a new PureFoam ring and an EVA Power Ring. The dual-ring layout takes the EVA Power Ring concept from earlier Selkirk models and combines it with the PureFoam ring to produce a core that adjusts to how you hit. Soft contact gets a soft response, while hard swings get serious pace, which is what Selkirk means by adaptive flexibility.

The face brings two ideas together. InfiniGrit is a surface that delivers tournament-legal spin and is built to last up to three times longer than raw carbon, designed to comply with strict USAP standards. Underneath it is a Multistrata T700 carbon fibre system, a multi-layer carbon structure that is patent-pending and can be tuned for balanced performance. Together they give consistent energy return and a stable feel.

Spin potential is quoted at up to about 2,000 RPM. The paddle comes in elongated and widebody forms, and the 1776 version is aimed at collectors and Selkirk fans.

Strengths

• Genuinely versatile. Works for dinking, blocking, driving and speeding up.
• Adaptive core. ReactCore adjusts to your swing speed.
• Tournament-legal spin. InfiniGrit is designed for compliance and durability.

Weaknesses

• High price. The OMNI is listed at about USD 300 and limited editions may cost more.
• Jack of all trades. It may not out-power a dedicated power paddle or out-touch a pure control paddle.
• Limited supply. Capsule editions are sold in limited quantities.
• List price for the edition not verified. Only the base OMNI price is documented.

Who it is for

Players who want one paddle for everything and appreciate Selkirk’s adaptive core, from serious intermediates to professionals, as well as collectors of Selkirk capsule editions.

Care and buying tips

Because the OMNI is designed to adapt to many situations, take time to try both soft and hard contact before judging it. Clean the InfiniGrit face with a damp cloth, and keep the paddle in a cover so the printed capsule artwork stays sharp. For collectors, keeping the original packaging and any authenticity information will help preserve the value of the edition.
