Summary

The ASICS Gel-Resolution X is the tenth generation of ASICS’ best-known stability court shoe, and it pushes stability, durability and comfort up another level. It builds on the popular Gel-Resolution 9 with a re-engineered side wall, a plusher midsole and a more padded ankle area, which makes it a strong choice for pickleball players who plant, cut and slide on hard courts.

Design and technology

A re-engineered Dynawall structure maximizes lateral stability while keeping the shoe comfortable when you cut aggressively. The midsole is more plush than before thanks to a combination of FlyteFoam Blast+ and ECO foam, and the signature GEL cushioning still sits in the forefoot to take the sting out of hard landings. A Dynalacing system helps wrap the midfoot securely, and the medial side of the ankle collar has been raised to add comfortable padding. For players who slide, PGUARD on the inside of the toe box protects against drag, and a full-length AHAR Plus rubber outsole continues ASICS’ reputation for very long wear with a tread that grips on many surfaces.

On court

The Resolution X feels secure and supportive. At about 16.1 oz in a men’s size 10.5 it is not a light shoe, but the weight comes with a planted feel that helps with stability when you chase wide balls and stop short. Expect a short break-in; the shoe softens after a few sessions. The fit is true to size with a medium width and arch, and a wider version exists for broad feet.
