Wika QD Fire 2 Pickleball Paddle
$ 123
Where the Air series from Wika is built for calm control, the Fire Evolution 2 is the more aggressive sibling. It has been upgraded in two main areas: a new XK100 surface and the Hybrid Core 2.0. The aim is to give the paddle a longer dwell time, so the ball stays on the face longer for better control, while keeping the pop that attacking players want.

Summary
Where the Air series from Wika is built for calm control, the Fire Evolution 2 is the more aggressive sibling. It has been upgraded in two main areas: a new XK100 surface and the Hybrid Core 2.0. The aim is to give the paddle a longer dwell time, so the ball stays on the face longer for better control, while keeping the pop that attacking players want.
The Hybrid Core 2.0 combines two materials. At the centre is a 6mm honeycomb layer that adds stability, a clear ball feel and a solid, connected sensation. This honeycomb is covered all around by EPP foam, which increases comfort, absorbs force more effectively and enlarges the sweet spot. The outer edges and throat are made with TPE and Shield Foam, which improve structural durability and reduce the vibration that travels to the hand.

The face is Toray T700 carbon with the exclusive XK100 grit technology. It delivers strong ball grip, supports heavy spin and aims to keep its roughness through long use. In practice, the paddle gives a firm, communicative sensation that is a little more lively than the Air 2, with confident counters and speed-ups.
Both 14mm and 16mm builds are available, with colours that include Emerald, Pink and Silver.
Strengths
- Hybrid core. Honeycomb centre for feel, EPP surround for comfort and pop.
- Longer dwell time. Helps control while still offering attacking ability.
- Spin-ready surface. XK100 grit on Toray T700 carbon.
- Durable construction. TPE and Shield Foam reinforce edges and throat.
- Choice of thickness. 14mm and 16mm.

Weaknesses
- Less cushioned than a full-foam paddle. The honeycomb centre gives a firmer feel.
- Regional brand. Fewer independent reviews are available.
- Premium within the brand. Costs more than the Air 2.
Who it is for
Intermediate and advanced players who like to attack but still need dependable touch.
Care and buying tips
The honeycomb centre and EPP surround respond best when the face is kept free of dirt, so wipe it after each session and store the paddle in a cover. Check that the edge and throat are free of cracks after any hard impact. If you are choosing between thicknesses, the 14mm feels livelier and faster, and the 16mm is steadier and more forgiving.
