Gearbox GX2 Power Elongated Dual Certified Limited Edition Pickleball Paddle

Overview

Summary

The Gearbox GX2 Power Elongated is the brand’s best-selling power paddle, and this limited edition adds a milestone: for the first time the paddle carries both the USA Pickleball Approved seal and UPA-A certification, so it is legal in recreational tournaments and professional competition alike. It arrives in an exclusive colourway that sets it apart from the standard release.

Gearbox builds its paddles differently from most rivals. Instead of honeycomb or foam, the GX2 uses the SST 2.0 CarbonRibCore, a patented rib-shaped carbon core that the brand says is four times stronger than a honeycomb core and twice as strong as a closed-cell foam core. The core material is a 200 FAW Toray T-700 mid-modulus carbon fibre, selected for efficient force transfer and a precise feel on contact.

The face is a 3K woven raw carbon, which provides natural grit for spin and ball control and keeps its texture over time. The elongated shape adds reach and power. Gearbox also publishes data from its Paddle DNA testing platform, which measures ball speed at 20 points across the face during a swing at about 45 mph. For the GX2 Power Elongated, the result is a sweet spot covering roughly 70% of the face area.

Strengths

• Dual certification. USA Pickleball Approved and UPA-A certified.
• Distinct core technology. SST 2.0 CarbonRibCore is built for strength and consistency.
• Large sweet spot. About 70% of the face area in the brand’s own testing.
• Raw carbon spin. 3K woven surface supports spin and control.
• Reach. Elongated shape adds length and leverage.

Weaknesses

• Premium price. Gearbox paddles sit in the upper price tier.
• Firm feel. A carbon rib core is stiffer than a foam core, which some players find less plush.
• Limited edition. Colourway availability is limited.

Who it is for

Advanced and competitive players who want a power paddle with a firm, precise feel and tournament legality, and players who like the idea of a non-honeycomb, non-foam core.

Care and buying tips

Wipe the raw carbon face after play and avoid abrasive pads.
